Intelligence comes from the mother
The working group led by Horst Hameister, managing senior physician of the Department of Human Genetics, Ulm, has identified significant differences in the distribution of intelligence-determining genes on the X-and Y-chromosomes in the human genome. There are many "intelligence genes" on the female X chromosomes. On the Y-chromosomes no genes could be detected that are relevant to the development of mental strength.
 The finding could explain why among the mentally handicapped as high among intelligent men are over-represented. Since they have only one X chromosome, affects every genetic trait that promotes intelligence particularly, but also each separate leaflet, directly. In women, however, the two X chromosomes and thus have all the intelligence genes twice, the degree of intelligence is normally distributed. From a genetic point of view, says Hameister, therefore, the men carry the burden of evolution.
Intelligence is a complex trait that is determined by many genes and environmental factors. Wear such intelligence and non-sex chromosomes determining genes - but only a third as many as the X-chromosomes, found Hameister.
Breast milkincreases the intelligence by boys
Breastfeeded babies do well. Breast milk is cheap, has the right temperature, protects against diseases and allergies. This is known. What is new is that breast milk also makes clever. Prolonged breastfeeding promotes long-term intellectual abilities - but this is true only for boys, as an Australian research team has found in a study. Those who were breastfed for at least six months long, have a higher IQ than their fellow males who were less or not at the breast.
